Energies That Make Us

Most of us in the spiritual circles take stock in concepts such as astrology or numerology to varying degrees. But the problem is many people will use these concepts as copes and excuses for behavior that’s not favorable. What do I mean by this? Let’s dive into Deeper Thoughts this week and take a look at the energies that make us.

Let’s look at some western astrology. Say someone is a Leo. One tendency of Leos is they typically love to be in the limelight. And this isn’t inherently a bad thing. But many of us have that friend or know that person who gets upset when they’re not the center of attention. Instead of letting someone else have their moment in the spotlight they sabotage the other person to ruin the event. Or instead of letting another person have their special time they might try to one up them or say/do something to put the light on them, such as during a friend’s wedding announcing their engagement. While they might feel good having the spotlight on them again, it can put a sour taste in the mouths of others.

You might know that person born in Scorpio season. This person might be cold and harsh, and not always when it’s necessary. Sometimes they might even go out of their way to be hurtful. This person may remain spiteful for long periods of time, holding onto unnecessary grudges. They might keep important secrets that could be helpful to others who could have used that information, including close friends and family. But when asked why they do these things they just say, “Well I’m a Scorpio, it’s just my nature.”

For those who use the Chinese/Vietnamese zodiacs you might know someone who’s born in a Rat year. Rat energy is known for manipulation, and there are negative connotations (for good reason) that come with that. Especially if this person is always doing something shady, and manipulating another person for their gain, but to the other person’s detriment. Again, they might use being a Rat sign as an excuse for this behavior. 

Another person might be born in a Horse year and are stubborn as all out. Nothing you tell them will sway them because they’re so stubborn, even when something amazing is sitting right in front of them.

Now let’s look at those who take to numerology. Let’s take a look at someone who’s a 1 Lifepath. A common trait in 1’s is they tend to be aggressive. This person might always be arguing with others or even getting into fights all the time, and get even worse about it when they’ve been drinking. They might use violence to take the role in leading, even if they’re not qualified to do so. “I can’t help arguing all the time. I’m a 1. What do you expect?”

We might have someone who’s an 8 Lifepath. Well in numerology 8 is the number of money, among other things. This person might love money and continue doing all they can to get as much money as they can. Now having or even wanting more money isn’t a bad thing, but when someone like this will lie, cheat, scam, or make dirty deals to get more money, it’s a bad thing. It’s where we get the saying (which is often misquoted) “The love of money is the root of all evil.”

So what are these energies that make us for? Well for starters they’re energies we’re born with that are strengths/advantages we have. For the Leo above, being in the limelight isn’t a bad thing, but knowing when and where. Maybe they need to be the person who hosts the gatherings and events that everyone talks about for weeks before and after. Maybe they’re that friend that models for the jewelry or clothes you make when you try to advertise them.

That Scorpio might be the one to call you out when no one else can or will, but not to put you down, but rather to help you realize you’re not on the right track. They might be the one who delve into things and find out those secrets or hidden information you need.

That person born in a rat  year may very well be a master manipulator, but instead of manipulating others to their detriment they might manipulate someone to do something smarter, more efficient, or beneficial. They might manipulate someone into ceasing those coping mechanisms, like challenging someone to up their sales at work, which makes not only the company more money, but the person being manipulated commission and overall pay.

That 1 Lifepath might use that aggression to keep others safe when needed instead of just fighting all the time.

That 8 Lifepath might use that desire for money to learn and understand how money works on an energetic level and use the money they gain not just to better their lives, but learn to give money (within reason) to others and let that money flow out so more can flow back to them.

These energies that make us up are also great for pointing us to lessons we need to learn.

That Leo might need to learn to let others have their moment in the light, and instead of getting jealous, celebrate with them and be happy for them.

That Scorpio might need to learn how to be frank, but not harsh, or to be more open to others instead of being so secretive all the time. They might learn they need to not hold onto grudges for years upon years.

That Rat sign might realize they can use that manipulative energy for the betterment of others like we talked about.

That Horse sign might learn to quit being so stubborn all the time and that others might have helpful insights that can help them along in life.

That 1 Lifepath might step into that energy to make those closest to them be safe. They can use that aggression healthily to amp others up, to get them excited, like a coach pumping his team up during halftime.

That 8 might learn that doing whatever it takes to make more money ultimately can come with costs so they go about acquiring that money in more ethical ways.

The energies that make us aren’t meant to be used as copes. They’re not excuses. They’re meant to be tools we use in life and they point us to lessons we need to learn. So study the energies that make up you, and see what you can do with and learn from those energies.
