Manifesting in Surprising Ways

One of the key components to manifestation is not worrying about the “how” it comes into being. But at the same time, you have to be doing something to actually have it come into fruition. So you have to set the intention and forget it, but still work toward it. But focusing on it can leave you missing opportunities. Sounds confusing, doesn’t it? This week in Deeper Thoughts let’s take a look at how your manifestations can pop up in ways you don’t always expect.
The manifestation you’re wanting more often than not isn’t going to come to be the way you expect it to. For a simple and broad example, the thing you might want to manifest is more money. Odds are you’re not going to win the lottery or receive a random check for $10K.
It could be the discovery of a new hobby that you grow into a business, or stumbling on a new tool(s) that you utilize to make things you can sell. It could be some random person you strike a conversation with at the bar knows a guy who owns a business in a completely different field than yours and offers to set up an interview for you. It could be someone buys the business you work for and fires certain employees and offers you a promotion.
But let’s look at a more detailed example to better illustrate what this can look like.
Bob has been working in the service industry for 10 years. In the beginning it was good money for him and he enjoyed the work. It keeps him moving around and helps him better plan and execute strategy to be more efficient as he works. But after 10 years he’s seen that he doesn’t want to do it the rest of his life. He dreams of working for himself, making money on his own schedule and in even larger amounts than he currently has been. He’s tried a few side hustles that do bring in extra money from time to time, but not consistently enough to make a living off of.
One day he tries wood carving and finds that he has some talent for it and enjoys it. He finds it grounding and he loves the creative process. He makes a bunch of little pieces and gives them as gifts here and there, just because he enjoys sharing that creative talent he’s discovered with himself.
After a few months of this he has a close friend whose birthday is coming up and he decides instead of buying her something he wants to use his creative side to make her a present, like she tends to do for him with her creative talents. He decides he could make a nice jewelry box for her. So with this in mind he starts looking up and researching a design and style to make and sees what kind of tools he needs.
By the time Bob got done building that box he found he enjoyed doing that as well and started looking more into woodworking. So he takes a few weeks and saves up to get a small table saw. Nothing fancy, but a decent one that will get the job done like he needs and doesn’t take up a lot of space in his cluttered garage.
Soon he’s spending his days off building things for his house, coffee tables, bookshelves, cabinets etc. Then he’s making things for his friends and family and his skills keep improving. Eventually he starts thinking about maybe making and selling things on the side and over time he solidifies this desire. Research has shown him first and foremost, that even though he can do a lot with the limited tools he has, he'll need better and more efficient tools if he wants to turn this into a career, which costs money. But that doesn’t deter him though. In fact he makes some social media pages for this budding business he wants to bring about and even makes some business cards.
So he plans to reinvest all sales he makes into this business to get the tools he needs and studies how to price his products appropriately and looks into ways to create growth and bring attention to him.
Suddenly, a coworker of Bob’s knows he needs a miter saw to make angled and repeatable cuts faster and easier than what he has. This coworker has one and wants to upgrade to a better one than his current one. So because he knows Bob’s passion he offers it to him for a fraction of what it’s worth, despite only being less than a year old. So now Bob has a miter saw like he’s been needing. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles on it, but it does everything he needs right now.
So now Bob can make cuts faster and more accurately than he could before with a circular saw, which speeds up his production. Right around this time, his uncle gives him a shop vac which he can use for dust collection which makes clean up easier and gets more of the saw dust particles out of the air while he works. Then a week later, as he’s waiting tables he strikes up a conversation with one of his guests and it turns out the husband at this table is also a wood worker and just upgraded his band saw and offers his old one to Bob for a fraction of what it costs, which Bob takes the offer.
What’s happening is, as Bob is aligning with his desire of creating a woodworking business by studying how to grow it, as well as constantly building and honing his skills. He knows what he wants and he keeps working towards it. In this process he keeps coming across opportunities that help grow his shop with expensive tools that would take him longer to get on his own. He expected he’d have to save up and buy these tools at full price, brand new, but because he’s aligned with his desire, these tools keep coming to him at extremely affordable prices that speed up his growth. He wanted to manifest the money to buy these tools, but instead these tools manifested themselves for him at a much lower price than they would have if he had bought them brand new. It wasn’t the way he expected for his shop to start growing and becoming more efficient, but those tools he needed began to manifest for him.
Acquiring customers came long faster for him as well. Instead of relying on just posting and getting word of mouth referrals he took a calculated risk and began investing in paid advertising to reach his goals. He studied and researched the type of people who would be his target market and ways to take better pictures to make his product options more appealing to them. He began learning editing software to make higher quality videos and then started putting money into those posts for advertising on his social media.
A few hundred dollars, and tweaking his target audience, along with sales tactics he’s learned over the years in the food service industry begins to get him more sales which allows him to grow his business and over time these sales become so consistent that he’s able to finally start stepping back from waiting tables to being in the shop full time.
A year prior to this Bob had no idea he would get into the hobby of woodworking and fall in love with the process. He didn’t have any idea that by building furniture and other projects in his garage he would become his own boss like he’s dreamed of. Originally he thought he would have to save up a lot of money, and figure out some kind of retail store he would have to rent space for, pay for inventory, and hustle to get the foot traffic he would need.
Manifestations don’t always come into existence the way you expect or plan. Many times they happen in ways you never expect. The most important thing is to set that intention and consistently take actions that are aligned to those desires and over time the path will begin to show itself to you.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you all have a very enlightening day.
